The Three Greatest Strengths and Weaknesses of Humanity
By Tabitha Bondurant
Life is a precious thing. What makes it so precious is its ability to change and surprise, the ability to throw a curve ball just to mess with you. Occasionally, it is wondrous and beautiful, and it makes the world sparkle and shimmer. Other times, it is a thing to fear, a thing that can ruin you from the foundation up. The strongest of us learn from life, and eventually figure out how to stay one step ahead of it. But the weakest of us consider every lesson learned to be a tragedy, and every good thing to be all of reality. Alas, I am human. Therefore, I am neither strong nor weak in my understanding of life. I don't despair at every mistake I make, yet I cannot dodge whatever is thrown at me. Every tiny stumble, every small success I come across helps me further understand the mystery that is life.
Friendship is another precious thing, and it is far easier to lose than life. Friendship can come in many forms, be it a poor man's dollar, or one's close companion. Although it can be lost, it is never entirely gone. Friendship leaves behind memories, which can never truly be forgotten. Even if one's previous friend was now their greatest enemy, neither of them could really forget the times they had shared. Again, I am human, so I know a great deal about friendship, and a lost one is a burden heavier than the world itself. That is exactly what makes a friendship so valuable.
Hope is, by far, the most precious thing one could have. It brings light to the darkest caverns, food to the emptiest stomachs, and joy to the most miserable of times. Still, hope is also the most easily lost. It slips away when you consider quitting, and tries to leave you when you fail. But hope is also the source of miracles. One with hope can do indescribably fantastic things. Once again, I am human, bound not by depression or despair, because I have life, I have friendship, and I have hope.
