I walk cautiously into the orchard. This is the perfect place for an ambush, yet it seems that no one has taken the opportunity. The soft grass comes in patches beneath my feet and small weeds take root among the baren parts. The rows of trees go on for a while and I follow them. Smells of blossoms fill my nostrils and cheer me up a bit. The trees form sort of a border around a clearing with a small pond and plenty of grass. There is only the sound of songbirds to accompany the scene.
"I suppose this is mine." I say to myself, pacing the clearing. "Here is where I shall call home, and house my herd." I say. As I stroll over to my pond I see that there are a few lotus flowers floating in it. The water is clear and fed by a small stream that appears to come out of nowhere.
Already I can imagine my herd, gentle and full of life. But ready to fight in case of an emergency. "I want four mares, and a son and a daughter to my name." I say to myself with a smile at the thought. Of course, I'll need a younger stallion to help keep the place in order. I wonder what the members of this herd will look like. Perhaps I'll have a strange mix.
This place looks like something out of a dream. Its so wonderful that I consider leaping with joy. All mine. My home. I take a deep breath, looking around again. The smell of flowers is too perfect to describe. The grass in this clearing has no patches, just solid green. I break into my best trot and circle the clearing again. Oh, I haven't felt so good since I was just a colt. Soon, I give in and sprint in circles around the clearing. I still can't get over the fact that its all mine...
