The tug of a light breeze whips banner and cord from their resting place on my body. I slither forward down the slope, trying to ignore how much my palomino coat stood out in the grim landscape. The wilting trees stretched their fingers out towards me, greedily sucking and tearing at my coat until I start to bear many small cuts. Even the thorns and brambles on the ground seem to be against me; they wrap around my hoof and hock with even the smallest movement. It was like the forest wanted to capture me and bring me down into its' innermost organs for sustinence.
My light was not approved of in these lands. I could feel the shadows and their prying hands trying to devour my spirit. There was a presence here that cheered for my perishing. I shiver. This is not a pleasant place.
Then again, no place really was a pleasant one. I whicker softly, making just enough sound to keep myself placated. I swish my tail nervously. In the days before I found myself in this desolate terratory I had started my first heat. I never really knew what to expect, for my mother never told me. She never would have disclosed anything to me. I was just her mistake.
However, during my travels, I managed upon a light herd, who took me in for a spell. That was one of the happiest moments of my young life, was when I joined their herd. I even had a small crush for the heir to the Lead, who was dashing and handsome, and who was charming enough to tell me that he thought I looked gorgeous in the sunlight. He called me his little golden bird, for I shone that in the direct sun. His mother took an instant liking to me, and divulged to me the secrets of the world. She told me most of what I needed to know, and look out for, and everything about myself I could never have possibly known on my own. I loved that herd.
Sadly, though, circumstance happened and I had to be once again on my own. They told me to head in the south direction, and that would lead me to a golden land they said was 'of the Blue Moon,' whatever that meant. Well, I am well on my way there now. I am determined to find a herd like them. Maybe one day I would even see them again.
Very carefully, I weave my way deeper into the forest. I should have gone around it... But I keep going forward. Might as well finish the path now. What's the worst that could happen...?

I moved with an ease that spoke of being born to it, the land welcoming me like an old friend. I was an old friend, really; my family of long ago had practically lived here, so this Forest was in more ways than one my ancestry. The forest tampered not with my hooves, it seemed like it attempted to keep a clear path so I wouldn't trip-- even though I couldn't trip, not on such familiar ground. I have long known the legends of this place, and will be grateful if I am ever a legend like my great-great-grandfather and his friends and enemies are. One or two of those old troopers might still be alive, you never know. Lost in thought, I absentmindedly checked my usual spots before just wandering about, amusing myself with tales and keeping an ear out for others' hoofsteps. My own barely made a noise, but this was usual upon soft ground such as this. I had already laid claim to my terra; The City Of The Fallen, and damn proud I am of it. I just need some things to fill it up some... Like a few new toys, maybe some obedient caretakers... We would see what this trip brought us.
A flicker of gold caught my black eye; a mare, in heat, just ahead. Destination? No clue. But she was nearing a clearing, so she might think to go there. Deciding it best to ambush the tiny thing, my shadowed form slid amongst the forestry to halt just outside the clearing. Yet after a moment I paused, rethinking my clever strategy. Deciding a different choice, I moved into the clearing and nipped at some grass, intentionally downplaying my menacing aura. Forcing my dark glimmer out of my eye, I made myself appear harmless yet knowledgeable. Well, not made myself appear but became. This was just one side of me-- I am like a many-faceted diamond. Black coat giving off a faint sheen, I pretended not to notice where the mare was. If she came to me then she did; if she didn't, so be it. So be it indeed.

After a few more paces, the twisted path opens up; much to my relief. I trot easily into the cleared area, swinging my dished profile around carelessly in my moment of triumph. Then I notice that I wasn't yet out of the forest, and, also that I wasn't alone.
My velvet brown eyes survey him secretly; I'm still wary of any creature that I cross paths with. He was massive, towering over me, and dark as the midnight hour. His shining eyes looked like sparkling lumps of coal. Has he noticed me...? I perk my ears. He looked well enough. Maybe he can help me out of the forest. Or at least provide me with directions! Inhaling deeply, I lift up my nape and shake my head so that my banner sails gently through the air. Then, I trot forward as politely as I could and make my way up to the stallion.
Um, excuse me, sir. I flick my cream coloured whipcord nervously, shy in the presence of such a large beast. I felt like a porcelain doll next to his built, strong and steady figure. Here I was, just a skinny, small, leggy Arab who probably looked more like a foal, anyways. I lay back my ears for a second before raising them again and taking another breath before I spoke. Um, you wouldn't happen to, well, to know the way out of this forest, would you? See, I am so lost, and I was just trying to get to this place... It was called 'Blue Moon' or something. Well I'm not really sure but--
After a while I stopped my pointless rambling. I'm sure it wasn't entertaining to him, and I was beginning to sound like an idiot. I snap closed my kissers and stare down at the ground in embarassment. Jeez, what a failure you are. The stupid Unwanted...

I cast a faintly interested gaze over her form, before returning to her face. I smiled softly at her, listening to her ramble on and on about this land. "Well, miss, you are in luck. This is the land of the Blue Moon; Blue Moon Herds to be exact. I do know how to leave this forest-- but there are few places quite like this. If you must leave, follow me." Before moving more than a stride, I paused and stretched, muscles rippling under a coat of black shoe polish. I moved swiftly, hooves dancing a tango with the vines and snarled grasses. Halting just before a second, much smaller clearing, I turned and checked if she was behind me. Deciding I didn't honestly care, I moved into the clearing before waiting once more. "Miss, may I know your name?" I called politely. I was fully prepared to take on and take down any stallion that thought he messed with what was mine; and most other stallions could sense the aura that normally surrounded me wherever I went. But no, I had toned it down so much that other might not feel it-- they might challenge me. I would not be challenged. Rage amped up my prescence until it was back to nearly normal, and then I just stopped hiding. My sheer darkness burst from it's confines, flooding the surrounding area, letting all who neared know I was there. I half-reared with the joy of letting it loose, like letting a violent bloodthirsy Rottweiler off it's chain and telling it to sic an intruder. Spinning about to face the way I had come, I waited with my coal eyes fixed on one spot.
I was certain of it; she was mind and forever would be, so long as she didn't piss me off too much. She seemed to quiet, too beaten to piss me off too much. I might have to boost her spirits before she became irreplaceably mine. Irreplaceably? Yes, I said that. My possessions all hold a history, a long and elaborate one that is purely mine after they are claimed by me. With a snort I deliberated the length of rope laying on the tree branch over there-- and decided it would be mine. I would use it on what was mine. But first I would wait before claiming either of my prizes-- I needed my mare to be here. Shaking out a luxurious black mane and whisking a long black tail over my midnight bodice, I waited for my shining golden one to appear.

He looked up, and stood before me. I couldn't help but notice how built he was. It was like Tiana herself had molded the beast to her perfective standards. Soon, he speaks: "Well, miss, you are in luck. This is the land of the Blue Moon; Blue Moon Herds to be exact. I do know how to leave this forest-- but there are few places quite like this. If you must leave, follow me." I jerk my head up in surprise and whicker softly to him. Was he truly and honestly going to give up his precious time to help me out of this hollow place?
After he started to turn and disappear from my sight, I whinny happily. So, they were right! This is a magical place. What an honour that I happened upon this stallion, showing me just the ideals that everyone told me of when they described Blue Moon Herds. I hope I get to know this creature well. He seems like a good herd-mate. I smile shyly and make my way after the charcoal beast.
I might even like him, if we ever stray paths in the future. The thought is silly, and I shake myself out of it. I stop on the new, twisting path he set out, and let every part of my body spasm in a good shake. When I look up again, he is even further from me. I can barely see the man at all.
Then, he makes sound again, and his words fly to my ear like a song. "Miss, may I know your name?" Miss! I giggle slightly and make my way closer into the new meadow. It was a smaller clearing, but still nicer than the angry, violent areas I had seen earlier.
My name, I start as I let my gold pillars come to a rest in the new enclosure. Something felt strange... I look up at him and do not notice for a moment the changes. My name is Unwanted... But mostly everyone would call me Unwa-- I stop. The horse before me is a terrifying, overwhelming brute. A small gasp escapes my jaw, and I start to back up. This couldn't be, the same one as before--! Fear rises up in my chocolate orbs.

I cocked my head to the side as she stopped. Glittering black focused on her chocolate brown, voice practically a purr, I spoke. "Unwa--? Do, go on." I would be pleasant. For as long as I could stand it, at least. A faintly menacing grin as I wound my way toward her. "Little Unwanted, your name is so untrue. You are wanted... By me." Twining around her, leaving my benevolent aura to cling to her like a cloak. Striding for a moment away, I returned with the diamond rope coiled in my jaws. Standing before her, I dropped a loop around her neck and another one around my own. "Unwanted... You are mine." Without any further prelude, I glided to her hindquarters. Mounting, passing my lines, and dismounting took minutes. "Doubly mine now, little one." I nuzzled her cheek and moved past her, tugging on the rope after a moment. With a cruel smile over my shoulder, no more endplay nor foreplay, I trotted into the woods, intent on bringing my prize home. Once we were almost out of the Forest, I slowed and explained. "We will be passing by all of your beloved 'light' lands, dear. Take a good look, you may never see them again." With that, I picked up the pace into a smooth collected canter.
As we passed the light lands, I reined in the slack and prepared. But quickly we were nearing the dark lands; my land was in sight. I couldn't wait to get her situated and comfortable in her new home... Our home. And maybe soon, she would share her home with others. Unwanted, my golden girl, she might grow to like it. I highly doubted that, but I was not an unkind stallion. Unkind does not equal sobbing heart, though. She would not be released under any circumstances, not unless someone released her from my care. But my care was the best-- I did not unnecessarily beat, rape or kill my things. I ensured they had food and water. I even let them have exercise. So I was a kind owner indeed, although I do have a mean streak like all those of us darks do. It's hereditary, and expected. I am no exception. Kinder than most, crueler than almost all.
We had long since entered my terrain, and I had become lax in watching my Unwanted. Gaze sharpening, I glanced at her, deemed her alright, and kept my steady trot. Hooves rang on pavestones as unshod hooves danced, tango'ing thier way up the large knoll leading to my three buildings. Slowing as I neared the first, the one lowest on the hill, I undid the complicated series of rope involved in tying the door shut. Shouldering my way inside, I kept going, despite if she had stopped or not. Moving right up to the cage, I undid the complex latch and swung the door open. It creaked ominously; Hm, might need oil on that. Rounding around behind her, I drove my chest into her hind, forcing her forward. Pulling the rope off of her as I backed out and slammed the door shut, I hung the rope off a shelf nearby, the latch on the cage already done up And locked tight. Pausing, I looked at her curiously, deciding to take a minute and stay with her before moving to other important business. "Well, Miss Unwanted, how do you like your new place?" I smirked, the words oozing interest when in reality, I had anything but.
